Visit the 2010 Irish Skipper Expo in Galway
26th - 27th February 2010
The Irish Skipper team who organised The Irish Skipper Expo 2009 held in the Galway Bay Hotel last February over two days were delighted once again with its outstanding success. 70 companies exhibited, some with double stands. And 15 companies showed 30 boats in the boat park adding to the huge pool of interest for the inshore sector which the Expo specialises in.
Looking forward to 2010 the Expo is again booked out and also a new element in the form of IASC (Irish Association of Seafood Companies) will be exhibiting and holding their AGM during the Expo. This will bring the processors together with fishermen and add a new dynamic to the Expo.
The volume of business conducted even increased on the previous year and an estimated €4.5 in trade was achieved at the show and in contact with customers at a later date.
Even businesses who attended for the first time were deeply impressed by the level of trade created over the two day event, which is the only Expo dedicated to the inshore commercial fishing sector in Ireland.
Companies from over Ireland, the UK, Europe and even Canada and Denmark were present at the Expo providing a full range of products and services at their stands.
The event was well supported by its co-sponsors Bord Iascaigh Mhara and AIB Bank, and BIM provided a lively series of seminars on policy and technical aspects for the inshore fisherman.
All of the businesses and those who attended the Galway Expo 2009 were delighted at the quality of the venue at one of Ireland’s leading hotels based in a prime seaside location in Salthill. In the surrounding area there is a wide selection of hotels, B&B’s and restaurants to choose from for all tastes.

BT Marine Propellers
“Just a quick note to thank you for all your efforts and help during the show. I came to Galway this year with a low expectation of what was achievable given the current economic climate, yet the show has bucked the trend by proving to be both productive and cost effective.
“We have several strong leads, some of which we have converted to orders already which is encouraging. Many thanks and we will be back next year!”
Andy Tudge,

Morton Boats
“Morton Boats had a strong and positive show. We sold two boats from the Redbay Fastfisher range and have several strong enquires for the Cygnus Cygnet 23 and other Redbay models. We currently have a Cygnus Cygnet in build for a customer in Scotland as a potter and have a Redbay Fastfisher 19 due for starting next week.
“After having such a successful Expo we will definitely be back next year with more of our products. We thank all who visited our stand at the show.”
John Morton,
Managing Director.
Stornaway Plastics
“Galway Expo 09 was another great show organised by the Irish Skipper Team. It's a very relaxed and well attended show with a very high attendance by inshore fishermen. There is always great banter at the stand and we all agree that the Irish sense of humour is wicked.
“There was great interest in all our products as always but the star of the show for us was the multipurpose Kingfisher Shrimp Pot.”
Gordon McClennan,
Director.
Don Mor Safety
“Thanks for a great show and all your attention and support. Well done to you and your colleagues! We had record sales for fishermen’s oilskins with built in buoyancy.
“At the EXPO we worked with Regatta’s Export Manager, Arve Øverås, without pause over the two days of the show in an effort to meet demand from retailers and end-users.”
Don Morrison,
Director.

Just wanted to say great job with the show again this year. Notus was very pleased as we had some gear ordered at the show and it looks like there are many other orders coming.
